Mary Ferreri has served the past nine years as a Physical Education and Health Teacher. Her leadership roles and creative ways to keep students engaged have been her strengths. The more experience she acquired, the more she was able to assess what really helps students learn, stay motivated, and stay eager to be successful.
She was raised in New York where she was influenced by some incredible family members who are/were coaches, professional athletes, community/family-oriented, and faith-based people. Her genuine passion for helping students thrive and be lifelong learners has led her down this path to help students in recovery from substance use disorders. She personally had a tough time in high school; even though she was a strong soccer player, she faced a battle with anorexia. She ruled out college for herself and barely made it through her senior year.
Being adopted at 8 days old, born in Mexico, and living on Long Island had its amazing advantages and disadvantages. Through her story and her easy-to-talk-to personality, she hopes to change our community’s perspective on addiction. She hopes to bring our Charlotte people together to do something positive for our youth who are in the midst of addiction; they need a strong network of people who care about them and provide boundaries, accountability, and hope. Mary believes in strong core values and providing students with the necessary tools to face the inevitable challenges that life brings. She plans to do this at Emerald School of Excellence through faith, fitness, and the great outdoors. She has an amazing team supporting and driving the vision to ensure that the students we teach are well-equipped for a healthy and bright future and are a part of our Emerald family forever!
